Hello! My name is Brooke Holcomb and I am the new school counselor at Meadowlark Elementary. I attended Wichita State University where I received a Bachelors in Elementary Education and a Masters in School Counseling. I have 18 years of educational experience with 11 years as an elementary school teacher and 7 years as an elementary school counselor.
I have an undeniable passion for counseling students and I am so excited to have a career in a field that is so dear to my heart. I have the joy of working with students through classroom guidance lessons, small group counseling, and individual counseling. I also collaborate with school staff and parents in order to best meet the needs of students.
I am also very lucky to have our goldendoodle, Lola, join me at school everyday. Lola is a licensed therapy dog and loves spending time at school with the students.
I am married to my best friend, Tony. We have 3 wonderful children, Mason, Bella and Corbyn. We love watching our kids play sports, traveling, and spending time at our family lake house!
I am so excited to be an All-Star and I am looking forward to meeting all of you and having a great 2020-21 school year!
I’m Mrs. Weide. I have been teaching for 11 years and this is my 4th year in the district. I have my bachelors in education from WSU and my masters in ESOL from Emporia State. My husband’s name is Jeff and together we have two little girls, Hayden and Madison. I am so excited for this school year!
Hello! My name is Kari Schmidt, and I am a new fourth grade teacher here at Meadowlark. I graduated from Tabor College in 2018 with a degree in elementary education and English for speakers of other languages. Since graduating, I have spent the last two years teaching third grade at a bilingual school located in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. This was an amazing experience that I will always cherish, but I am so excited to take what I have learned and join you as a part of the Andover community!
My name is Holly Schoonover (Skoon-over). I am a K-State grad and am currently working on my masters in school leadership through Baker University. For the past three years I’ve taught first grade in the Kansas City area, but Andover has always been where I call home! I grew up here and graduated from Andover Central in 2013. I am a devoted dog mom to my sweet golden retriever named Ruby. In my free time I enjoy hanging out with my family, doing anything outside and reading. I feel so blessed to be joining the Meadowlark family and can’t wait to have little humans in my classroom!
Hello! My name is Jessica and I am one of the new Instructional Aides at MES! I’ve worked with children for many years and have a passion for seeing kids grow happy and healthy. I grew up in Kansas but lived in Oregon for multiple years and fell in love with the Northwest. If anybody knows me they know Alaska is my favorite state! Cool weather and hiking make me happy. Some of my other hobbies are biking, cooking, and learning all about health and herbal medicine! I’m excited to work with the kids this year and especially grateful to be part of the Meadowlark team.
Hello, my name is Saylis Sengvilay and I’m excited to be aboard the team here at Meadowlark as an Instructional Aide. I love working with kids on speech & reading, and helping them grow! I’ve lived in Andover almost my whole life and I’m an Andover Central graduate. Some of my favorite things to do include reading, gardening, and cooking. Go Allstars!
