• Each class will visit the library for a lesson and check-out once per week.

  • Students may come to the library to check-out or renewbooks during open check-out time with teacher permission.

  • Students Grades 1-5 are allowed to check out two books at a time.  

  • Kindergarten students will only check out one book at a time.  

  • Books may be checked out for a two week period and renewed once for an additional two weeks, so long as there are not any holds for the book.  

  • Students in grades 3-5 may place a book on hold, if the book is already checked out.  They may only have one book on hold at a time.  

  • One of the books that students select should be in their grade level or their AR, or independent reading level, if known.

  • Overdue notes will be sent home with no overdue fees, however, students will not be able to check out additional books until books are returned. 

  • If a book is lost or damaged beyond repair, the student will be responsible for paying the fine to replace the book.  

  • Parents are able to open a library account and check out up to 10 books.



  • Keep books in a safe place at home and utilize backpacks for storage and safe return to school.
  • Protect books from liquids, food, younger siblings and pets.
  • Respect library classes by following CHAMPS procedures in the library at all times.
  • Return books and supplies to their proper “home”. 
  • Use a shelf marker for browsing.
